Seduce Me at Sunrise is the second book in The Hathaways series by Lisa Keyplas.

Kev Merripen is a Gipsy orphan with a tortured past. His clan left him for dead when he was just a child and was rescue by the Hathaway family. He is brought to their home where they took care of his injures. They offered him to stay as long as he wishes. But as a Gipsy he is not used to the confinement of a house and is planning to leave as soon as he is recover. His plans changed when young Winnifred Hathaway comes to his room to make him company; the attraction this two children felt for each other was immediate. Kev has never felt anything like that for anybody and decides to stay indefinitely just to be close to Win. Years have passed and Kev is still with the family, doing anything they need; he has become a protector for them and especially for Win, with who he has been in love for all those years. The family has done their best to make him feel part of them but he has always kept a distance.
Win also has been in love with Kev since their first encounter but has never acted upon her feelings. When she falls ill with scarlet fever Kev is the one who nurses her back to health. But after her illness Win is not the same woman she was, now she is fragile and weak. She wants to be with Kev but she doesn’t want to be with him while she is like that. She needs to be whole to take on Kev’s love. When Win learns of a clinic in France that specializes in cases like hers she doesn’t think twice and leaves for France to get the treatment she most needs.
Couple of years have passed, years, in which Kev had been withdrawn and has never written to her. Now Win has recovered her health and returns to her family, still in love with Kev but with not many expectations from him. She also returns in the company of Dr. Harrow who has certain interest on her.

I loved Win, she is smart and strong, she is a very determined character; she knows what she wants and it’s willing to do anything to obtain it.

Kev is so stubborn that I wanted to smack him more than once. He is the kind of hero that will make your heart ache. He has a sordid past and he is suffering because of it. He loves Win so much that he thinks he is not good enough for her and wants the best for her, even if that best is not him.

The chemistry between Kev and Win had my reader smoking. Since book one of this series, Mine Till Midnight, we see the love and devotion they have for each other. Their love is the soul mate kind of love. They found each other when they were just children but now they need to overcome emotional obstacles to be together.

My final though I loved the Gipsy factor in this book. I also loved that we see more of Can and Amelia’s relationship (Mine Till Midnight). I loved how the characters have developed, we seen them grown and become more in each page. I also liked the little surprises in the story. All in all, Seduce Me at Sunrise is a splendid historical romance novel, with rich characters and a nice plot.
Even though Seduce Me at Sunrise can be read as a stand alone I recommend you to read Mine Till Midnight first to have a better background of the characters.

My Verdict: 4 ½ Paws
