“Did he do the right thing?
No one loves Darian like Tyler does. Not her friends. Not her fellow Shaedes. Not the Shaede king who wants her for himself. Tyler is the only one who sees beyond the swagger and swordplay that make her the most fearsome Shaede assassin in the world—the only one who recognizes her loyal heart and vulnerability. But her evolving powers and compulsion to finish every job no matter the stakes fills him with fear. For he knows it's only a matter of time before he loses her.
When that moment nearly comes—and Tyler discovers a trail of deceit that prevented him from protecting Darian—he snaps. He breaks. And he leaves.
Now he must learn to live without her, even as they remain bound to one another. And when a friend of Darian’s faces an unknown threat, Tyler must find a way to enter the fray without crossing paths with Darian.”
Lost to the Gray is
the new novella in the Shaede Assassin
series by Amanda Bonilla.
Lost to the Gray is
set just after events of Blood Before
Sunrise and before events of Crave
the Darkness (next book in the series, release March 5th). But
let me be clear, this is not a novella to start the series.
Lost to the Gray
is not a fluffy romantic story, is a heart-wrenching one, but one I’m very glad
I read because it made me understand and like Tyler even more.
Tyler
is suffering for the decision he was forced to take after what Darian did to
him in Blood Before Sunrise. Even
after reading Crave the Darkness (release
March 5th) I didn’t understand why he did what he did and if I’m
being honest I kind of disliked him a little bit because of his actions, but now
after reading Lost to the Gray I
understood he did something that it wasn’t easy for him and even though it’s
breaking his heart it was the only feasible way to make Darian realize she
needs to change if she really wants a relationship of equality, respect and trust with
him.
But
brooding is not the only thing Tyler is doing; Levi is in big trouble and with
Darian out of the picture Tyler is forced to put his feelings aside to help
his friend in need.
We
also see flashbacks of how Tyler and Darian met, why he decided to bind himself
to her and how he did it. We also see a flashback of a very smexy scene when
they were happy together. *swoon*
Lost to the Gray
is a novella that reads like a novel. It not only has a well-developed plot
with enough action and angst to keep you glue to the pages but it also allows
us see the real Tyler. I’m really glad I read it and I recommend all Shaede Assassin’s fans to read it before
reading Crave the Darkness.
My Verdict: 5 Paws

ReplyDeleteI enjoy novellas, especially when I don't have a lot of time to read. They go a lot faster, so I can finish the story in the short amount of time I might have to read.
