To Griffin, Kate as always been his little sister’s friend, but now he’s finding her to be so much more. As both attempt to forge their paths, they must decide if their passionate connection can turn into something lasting…”
Rumor Has It is the fourth book in the Animal Magnetism series by Jill Shalvis.

Since the death of her mother Kate Evans balances her life between her work as a elementary teacher and helping her father raise her little siblings. Last year has been especially tougher; her father is recovering from addiction to painkillers and all the responsibility has fallen on Kate shoulders.
For a third time in a row Kate has won a scholarship to continue with her studies, accepting it means she will need to leave Sunshine, Idaho and her family behind. The previous two years it was easy to say no, but this time she really wants to accept it, if only she can make sure her family will be ok without her for a year.
The scholarship is not the only thing Kate has on her mind. Her best friend, Holly, is getting married and Kate is the maid of honor. That’s not the problem; the problem is the attractions Kate feels towards Holly’s brother, Griffin, who is in town for the wedding.
As soon as Griffin turned eighteen he enlisted in the army, leaving Sunshine behind to never look back. Thanks to the very strained relationship with his father he doesn’t have too many good memories of the town or the ranch where he grew up.
He’s back in Sunshine not only for his sister wedding to his best friend, Adam, but also because he has been medically discharged from the army after an IED explosion left him scarred and suffering from severe migraines.
Grif’s plans are to rest, enjoy the wedding, and leave the town soon after; he even has some jobs lineup. The last thing Grif was expecting was to feel attracted to his sister’s best friend, Kate, an attraction so strong that is making him reconsider his priorities in life.

Kate is not your typical heroine, she is cute, smart and caring, she is also a little bit peculiar, she blurts out random scientific facts when she is nervous. This makes her endearing and fun to watch.
Kate is dedicated to her family, her friends and her kids at school. She has put everybody before her and now she’s ready to think about what she wants and she needs. This gave her the strength to go after what she wanted, that being Griffin.

Griffin is the epitome of a torture hero. He has never felt at home or love by his father, that’s why he left everything behind and enlisted in the army. Now, with his military career over and recovering from a serious injury his life is not in a good place. The last thing Grif wants is a relationship, but maybe that’s exactly what he needs. Even though his sister told him to leave Kate alone, he can’t do it, not only he’s not strong enough to resist her, she’s also using all her charms to get his attention.

I really loved Kate and Grif together, I loved that Grif accepted Kate the way she was, with her quirks and everything. Kate and her caring personality was just what Grif needed. The attraction between them is off the charts and seeing little Kate trying to seduce Grif and he trying to resist her was just too adorable.
I also loved that Grif allowed Kate to take care of him when he needed somebody by his side. They are just perfect for each other.

I didn’t know the secondary characters because I have not read previous books on the series, but they were so good and complemented the story so much that I can’t wait to read previous books.

I loved Holly, she’s more than a sister to Kate than a friend. Her fiancĂ© and Grif’s best friend, Adam, is a sweetheart. I loved how he was there for Grif when he needed him.
Kate’s ex and best friend, Ryan, was a delight. I really hope next book is his book. He needs a nice girl in his life.
Last but not least, Kate’s siblings Ashley and Tommy. Ashley is the typical teenager, on the beginning of the book I wasn’t too sure about her, but by the end I was loving her. Tommy is a little version of Kate, he’s super smart and has a huge heart. He was just too cute for words.

Rumor Has It is sweet, fun and very entertaining read, with loving character and a smartly develop story that will have you laughing and swooning page after page.
I recommend Rumor Has It to contemporary romance fans. Rumor Has It can be easily read as a standalone.

I’m planning to read not only previous books of the series, but also next book, Then Came You, to be release on July 2014. I really hope that will be Ryan’s book.

My Verdict: 4 Paws
