“Meet the furry big brother that the Wird sisters never had…
Bren is a cocky, brash hound of a werewolf who loathes the idea of belonging to Aric’s pack—much less finding a mate. But Bren’s hotheaded behavior lands him in the doghouse when he defies Aric’s authority in front of his pack, bringing up a sore subject that’s bound to make the Alpha wolf’s blood boil…
Luckily for him, no one can stay mad at Bren and his wild charm for long. And when some frightening ghosts launch a hostile paranormal takeover, Bren will team up with Celia to take down the evil ghouls before they hurt someone they both love…

A Cursed Moon is a novella in the Weird Girls series by Cecy Robson. A Cursed Moon is told by Bren’s point of view.
First, I want to start by saying that if you haven’t read first and second books in the Weird Girls series A Cursed Moon is not the place to start. A Cursed Moon should be read after reading A Cursed Embrace (second book) and before reading Cursed by Destiny (third book, not yet released).
I’m really glad Cecy decided to write a novella from Bren’s POV, not only to see the real him, but also because we can see Celia and her sisters from somebody else’s eyes. This was kind of an eye opener, especially when Celia is concerned. Through Bren’s eyes we can see that Celia sells herself short and she’s much more than what we can see when we are seeing her through her POV.
I have always liked Bren, but after A Cursed Moon I liked him even more. He loves the Wird sisters, for him they are the Pack he never had, for that reason he’s willing to do something he never thought he’d do, like joining Aric’s Pack. He knows that with the help of the Pack he can protect them better, so leaving his misgivings behind he joins the Pack. Something that is not easy to a lone wolf who doesn’t follow orders easily. To add to that he does not like Aric much at the moment because he hurt Celia’s heart. Every time he can Bren uses his new place in the Pack to remind Aric of what he let go.
Another thing I really liked about A Cursed Moon was the way Cecy intermingled legends from Latin America like La Llorona (The Weeping woman) and others within the story. Those are legends I grew up listened to and it was great to see them as a very smart part in the story.
All in all A Cursed Moon is delightful, action-packed read that will keep you satisfied until you can get your hands on the next installment in the series, Cursed by Destiny, to be release on January 7th, 2014.
Something very important happened to a character in A Cursed Moon, I can’t say what without giving spoilers away. The only thing I can say is please read A Cursed Moon before reading Cursed by Destiny.
My Verdict: 4 ½ Paws
