Best of 2013 Audiobook Blog Hop

I’m participating on the Best of 2013 Audiobook Blog Hop hosted by The Book Nympho, Hot Listens, and Geeky Bloggers Book Blog. This Blog Hop will run from Jan 1 2014 to Jan 15 2014.
Over 40 different blogs are participating; the idea is to spread our love for audiobooks by choosing our favorite 3 audiobooks from 2013. So don’t forget to visit the other blogs to learn about the best audiobooks of 2013 from the other bloggers and to participate in some great giveaways.

I thought it will be easy to choose 3 audiobooks from the 37 audiobooks I listened to this year, but it wasn’t. After a lot of thinking and a lot of considerations these are my final choices.

A Memory of Light by Robert Jordan
Narrated by Michael Kramer and Kate Reading
Wheel of Time series #14
Fantasy
Length: 41 hrs and 55 min

A Memory of Light is not a happy book, it’s a book of deep sacrifices and losses, where the core of humanity is tested over and over again, but at the same time it’s a book of love, compassion, strength and the powerful will to live and to do what is right regardless of the price.
The narrators of these books (Michael Kramer & Kate Reading) are Amazing! They really brought the story and the characters to life injecting them with so much emotion that it was impossible not to feel submerged in the fabric of the story. I laughed, cried, suffered and hoped for hours after hours.

Endless Knight by Kresley Cole
Narrated by Emma Galvin
The Arcana Chronicles #2
YA
Length: 10 hrs and 55 mins
Kresley Cole has created a very imaginative world in this post-apocalyptic series. Tarot cards come to life to have a final battle in the world, a battle that will define the future of a world plagued with zombies, cannibals and extreme weather conditions.
The Endless Knight is a dark, emotional, and highly entertaining book; one full of surprises from beginning to end.
The Endless Knight shouldn’t be listen/read as a stand alone, to get the full effect of the story you need to read Poison Princess first.
The Endless Knight is narrated by Emma Galvin. Even though I prefer two narrators as it was the case with first book in this series (Poison Princess), I can honestly say that Mrs. Galvin did a good job bringing to life the characters of this amazing book.

Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor
Narrated by Khristine Hvam
Daughter of Smoke and Bone series #1
Fantasy - YA
Length: 12 hrs and 32 mins

Daughter of Smoke and Bone is one of those books in which you can say much without giving spoilers away. It is also one of those books I would love just to tell you to trust me, buy it and read it or listen to it. I can guarantee you you won’t be disappointed.

The best thing about the audiobook of Daughter of Smoke and Bone was that it made discover the amazing Khristine Hvam. OMFG! She’s the best narrator ever. I loved her so much that after listening to Daughter of Smoke and Bone I continue with the audiobook of the second book in this series, Days of Blood & Starlight, that audiobook was as good as this one. But that’s not it, after finishing with those I searched for more audiobooks narrated by her and since them I have listened to other series I never expected to listen just because of her.

Khristine Hvam is my narrator of the year!

  8. Daughter of Smoke and Bone was amazing and remains one of my all-time favorites. Have you listened to the novella Night of Cake & Puppets? It's absolutely adorable and (no surprise) Khristine Hvam rocks the narration along with Kevin T. Collins.

  19. Ok so my favorite audiobook of 2013 was the final book in the Enclave series by Ann Agguire. The books started out a little rocky but I'd have to say the final book, Horde, was by far one of the best endings to a series I have concluded in a while... I also enjoy listening or reading anything by Jennifer Lynn Barnes. Her book Every Other Day was my most recent of hers..but Naturals was Fantastic! If you haven't listened to any of her books(Raised by Wolves series, Golden, Naturals, etc) I highly recommend her.
