2014 Audiobook Challenge Update & Giveaway

I’m a bit late to for my (semester) update, but just until now I have a chance to do it…. Better late than never.

These are the audiobooks I have listened this year. They are organized by (listening) chronological order.

I think I have done a good job, they may not see as many, but you need to take in consideration that  two of those audiobooks are 45+ hours long and the rest are 15+ or 20+ hours long.

Academ's Fury, Codex Alera series #2 by Jim Butcher. Narrated by Kate Reading
Cursor's Fury, Codex Alera series #3 by Jim Butcher. Narrated by Kate Reading

I listened to The Chronicles of Elantra series because it was narrated by my favorite narrator ever, Khristine Hvam. These books are really good and the narration is excellent. If you like fantasy/urban fantasy, this is a series I recommend you.

I’m looking forward to August 1st to the release of next book/audiobook in this series, Cast in Flame
Blackbirds was ok, when I finished listening to the audiobook I added second one to my TBL, but now, I’m really not sure if I’ll ever listen it… Why? There are so many other audiobooks I like more, so I better use my time listening to something I really like than to something just “ok”.

Dreams of Gods & Monsters was my most awaited audiobook of the year. It was a good end to a GREAT series… and it is narrated by Khristine Hvam… Win, win!

Steelheart was a nice surprise. Brandon Sanderson is an amazing author and he proves it once again with this one. It was my first audiobook narrated by MacLeod Andrews and I'm sure it won't be my last.

Falling Kingdoms is another one I enjoyed, but wasn’t too crazy about it. I’m not sure if I’ll continue with the series or not. I’m still on the fence about it. The narration left a lot to be desired.

The Heroes was my first book/audiobook by Joe Abercrombie and it was great. This one is bloodily hilarious, literally! The narration was great too.

The Stormlight Archive audiobooks are the best audiobooks I have listened this year. Not only the books are AMAZING! But Kate Reading and Michael Kramer do a great job with the narration. These are long audiobooks, 45+ hours long, but sooooo good you will wish they were longer.

After finishing Words of Radiance, I had audiobook hangover and didn’t know what to listen next. After so much deliberation I went with Codex Alera. Why? I have heard great things about Jim Butcher and it was narrated by Kate Reading. I nailed it with my selection because these audiobooks are really good. So good, I’m listening one after the other. Right now I’m halfway into Cursor’s Fury and I’m loving it.

I love these audiobooks so much I want to share my love for them with you. How? I’m giving to one lucky person, winner choice of an audiobook (Audible) from the above audiobooks/series featured (includes first books in The Chronicles of Elantra series and Daughter of Smoke & Bone series).

  1. That is a LOT of audiobooks. I'm glad to know that you liked all the Sagara books, b/c I read and really liked the first one, but never got around to continuing the series. But it's stuck in the back of my head, you know? Anyway, I'll be sure to fit it in somehow now that I know you liked it too.

    1. I didn't say that. I liked it, but not as much as I have liked other books. I'm not 100% sure, but I think my problem with that audiobook was the narrator.

  3. One of my faves from the year so far was Anna Godbersen's "The Blonde," a spy thriller featuring Marilyn Monroe.
